Reads the spot, not the room.

The right plant for the right spot.

Plants don't live in rooms — they live in spots. Tell us about one and we'll read its whole growing environment: light, warmth, humidity, airflow.

The spot checker runs in your browser — no sign-up, nothing to install.

Check a spot before you buy the plant.

Which plant? Where is this spot? When does direct sun hit it? An honest estimate
01 · In the app

Three steps to a measured answer

The free checker works from what you can describe. The app starts from what it can measure.

Pick a plant

Snap a photo to identify it, or search the care library — where every fact is labeled by how verified it is.

Set your phone down at the spot

Lay the phone right where the plant would live. GrowSpot measures the light that exact place actually gets — a real reading for that spot, not a guess for the whole room.

Get an honest verdict

A fit score across light, temperature, humidity and airflow. Honest ranges instead of fake precision, re-checked as weather and seasons change.

03 · What it does

Judge the spot, not just the plant

One idea, carried all the way through — every feature answers the same question: will this plant be OK right here?

Spot-level fit score

Not "is this room bright" — can this monstera live on this shelf. Four dimensions, one honest score.

Compare two spots

Which window wins? Two spots one wall apart can be two different climates. Settle it with measurements.

Honest by design

What it can't measure, it estimates from your local weather and your description of the spot — an honest estimate, never a made-up number. Care facts carry verification labels.

Care that adapts

Care reminders that adapt to each plant and season, with weather alerts for the spots that need them.

Photo ID & diagnosis

Identify what you're holding, and diagnose problems with the spot's real conditions taken into account.

A growing journal

New leaves, repots, recoveries — kept as your plant's story, from the day it moved in.

Our one rule
"When it doesn't know, it says so."

Phone sensors can't know everything, and pretending otherwise kills plants. GrowSpot shows honest ranges instead of fake decimal points, labels every care fact by how verified it is, and when it has to fill a gap it says so — an estimate from your weather and your description of the spot, never a made-up number. In the few cases where even that would be a guess, it says it can't assess yet. No fear tactics, no fake countdowns, and canceling a subscription takes two taps.

Questions

Questions, answered honestly

Is the free spot checker the same as the app?

No — and the difference is the whole point. This page estimates: you describe the spot, we add the weather where you are, and you get a read on light, temperature, humidity and airflow — labelled as an estimate, because that's what it is. The app measures: you set the phone down at the spot and it reads the light that exact place actually gets, then keeps that answer right as the seasons change. Start on this page. Get the app when you want the reading.

How does the light measurement in the app work?

You set the phone down at the exact spot and measure. GrowSpot turns what it senses into honest brightness ranges rather than fake decimal points, then keeps re-tuning the reading to weather and seasons through the year. Precision varies between phones, so the app only ever claims what it can stand behind — and says "can't assess" when it can't.

Is the free plan actually useful?

Yes — it's the full app for 2 spots and 2 plants: no feature locks, no watered-down scores. Photo identification is capped at 20 scans a month on the free tier. If you grow more than that, Plus removes the limits.

When is Android coming?

Closed testing finishes this week, then it goes into Google's review queue (up to a week). Android folks can already claim a Founding 50 spot and start the moment it ships.

What happens to my photos?

Identification and diagnosis photos are processed to give you an answer. The light meter works on-device and doesn't keep photos. GrowSpot never asks for photos of your home — just the plant and the reading. Details in the Privacy Policy.
